On May 26, 2022, the International Forum "Innovation and Investment Development of the Agrarian Sector - a Key to Food Security of the Country" was held.
Dr. Vyacheslav Shebanin, rector of the Mykolaiv National Agrarian University, said in a welcoming speech: “For the tenth time we are holding the traditional International Field Day on the grain growing technology. Here are presented unique drought- and heat-resistant novelties of selection of all domestic and leading foreign centers of Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Czech Republic, France, Serbia, some of which are presented for the first time in Ukraine”.
Then Mr. Georgy Reshetilov, First Deputy Head of the Mykolaiv Military Regional Administration, was invited to speak. He also raised the issue of the current difficult situation in Ukraine and the agricultural market in particular, emphasizing the significant contribution of Mykolaiv NAU to modern science and education.
Dr. Oleksandr Novikov, Vice-Rector for Research at MNAU, and Mykola Karpenko, Director of the MNAU Science Park "Agroperspective" continued the work with a video demonstration of modern selection achievements of the University.
The moderator then announced a plenary and section meeting, where representatives of Ukrainian and foreign partner universities presented their reports, including Aram Aristokesyan from the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Boris Boincean, Director of the State Research Institute of Field Crops "Breeding" (Republic of Moldova), Fedir Karamavrov, regional representative of MZURI (Poland), and others.
In total, the online event was attended by more than 120 people, including representatives of the State University of Colorado, USA, Prof. Deana Namuth-Covert and Prof. Alexander Adamovich from the Latvian University of Natural Sciences and Technology.
I would like to conclude with the words of the rector of Mykolaiv National Agrarian University Vyacheslav Shebanin - "I believe that next year we will meet again at our innovation site, but offline, in a friendly circle of breeders, technologists, farmers to jointly address food security."
